Job Summary:

As an Employment Specialist, you will make a lasting impact by helping individuals with severe and persistent mental illness find meaningful employment. In this role, you'll provide hands-on job development and one-on-one coaching to support clients in choosing, obtaining, and thriving in competitive jobs. You'll also assist individuals in accessing vital community resources, building skills, and achieving greater independence through the power of work.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop and implement an individualized service agreement to assist consumer with his/her career objectives
  • Conduct intakes regarding new consumers
  • Identify potential employers and develops job opportunities related to the consumer's specific needs
  • Maintain relationships with existing employers face-to-face or by phone at least one (1) time per month
  • Provide employers and co-workers with support, training, educational and technical assistance regarding job accommodations, when indicated by the employer or consumer
  • Provide on-going support until consumer is terminated from program using guidelines is SES manual
  • File monthly DVRS and DMHS reports utilizing an electronic system
  • Attend all committee meetings (whether internal or external), trainings, and events as required. This includes NJIEI Job Coach Training and quarterly networking meetings
  • Participate in vocational team meeting one (1) time per week
  • Coordinate and market SES and Vocational Services to community groups, agencies involved in employment related activities, consumer groups and families
  • Document all interactions with consumers in the client record in accordance with Agency policy and procedures
  • Participate in and monitors Consumer Support Groups as assigned by Program Manager

What We Are Looking For:

  • BA/BS or AA in Rehabilitation, Psychology, and Social Work from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Driver's license required and must be insurable by agency's automobile insurance.
