Job Summary:
You will plan, direct, and oversee both clinical and administrative staff to ensure that they provide mental health services to mental health population in the community on a 24/7 hours basis. Ensure departmental goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame by performing the job responsibilities personally or through subordinate staff. You will provide referral, linkage, crisis hotline coverage, crisis intervention and stabilization, developing alternative recovery plans, and collaboration and consultation with other professionals, community agencies, and natural support systems to determine the most clinically appropriate intervention in the least restrictive setting for clients who may need involuntary hospitalization to a Short-Term Care Facility (STCF).
What You Will Do:
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provide direct supervision and oversight to assigned staff in order to broaden clinical skill sets, enhance and improve self-awareness, that will foster excellent client care
- Provide on-going support to staff to ensure completion of job responsibilities
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the agency's policies, applicable laws and governmental regulatory agencies
- Review staff responsibilities to determine time frame and scope of authority, reviews staffing requirements, and allotments of available resources
- Evaluate staff productivity and documentation of service delivery
- Provide supervision to assist with conflict resolution
- Participate in the interviewing, hiring, and training process for the PESP department
- Complete performance appraisals and advocate for rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Initiate clinical consultation and case reviews with appropriate mental health providers to determine appropriate treatment planning which may include, but not limited to psychotherapeutic counseling with individuals, groups, and families.
- Answer the 24 hours crisis hotline, providing verbal de-escalation, telephonic triage, consultation, information, and referral
- Provide crisis intervention counseling and concise psychotherapy that seeks to stabilize a psychiatric crisis when hospitalization is deemed not appropriate, including referral and linkage to self-help and community resource information, outpatient mental health treatment, and advocacy for appropriate treatment and services
- Assist and supervise the development of recovery plans based for individual client needs in collaboration and consultation with all referral sources/providers and family and natural support systems
- Provide consultation, training and technical assistance to other clinical staff in the Screening Center and in the community, which includes collaborating with Psychiatrists, Social Workers and Nursing Staff in the Screening Center and other area Medical Centers in Bergen County
- Supervise staff and provide clinical oversight over daily client caseload
What We Need to See:
- Master's degree in mental health related field (Social Work, Psychology, Professional Counseling) plus 1 year of mental health related work experience
- Clinical licensure in (LSW, LAC, LCSW, LPC) preferred, not required
- Screener eligibility required
- Supervisory experience preferred
